Chris Sprigman's "THE MOUSE THAT ATE THE PUBLIC DOMAIN: Disney, The Copyright Term Extension Act, And Eldred V. Ashcroft" is dated as to the legal case (published in 2002), but the principles that he explains are sound. Creativity builds on other creative works and always has. By restricting the use of materials forever to their private owners, we, as a society, loose access to legally build creatively on other works.
A shame.
